Interior trunk lights placment means the trunk is dark with cargo

I have a 2019 Edge ST and I find the placement of the trunk lighting to be a terrible design choice. As soon as you have anything in the trunk, it blocks the light that is positioned at the bottom. Has anyone here added additional lighting on the roof of the interior? If so, what did you use?
